Exhibition Curation and Development
In my positions as Curator at The Art Students League of New York and Director of Exhibitions at Hollis Taggart, I have curated numerous exhibitions of contemporary and post-war American art. Some highlights include a complete reinstallation of the Art Students League’s ground floor gallery in 2018 and the exhibition Wild and Brilliant: The Martha Jackson Gallery and Post-War Art, a tribute to the trailblazing gallerist, at Hollis Taggart. I am well-versed in the process and challenges of producing large and small projects from start to finish.
Research
I know first-hand that it has become harder and harder to find time for in-depth research. However, in my more than ten years of experience, I’ve found that investing in original research is always worth it. Not only does it make your project standout, but it increases impact by adding valuable knowledge that keeps the art world moving forward. I’ve worked with galleries, auction houses, museums, and artist estates on many types of research, from deep dives into single artworks to larger projects such as collection assessments, re-examinations of an artist’s career, and exhibitions.
Writing
Writing goes hand in hand with exhibition development and research and is essential to engaging audiences. I believe in clear, compelling, and accessible storytelling, whether I am writing an artwork fact sheet, Instagram post, website feature, catalogue essay, or exhibition review.
Collection Management
As Curator at the Art Students League, I oversaw a collection of over 2000 objects spanning the 19th-Century to the present. My contributions to stewardship included organizing a complete collection appraisal as well as creating the institution’s first collection management policy and first collection committee. I can assist with any aspect of collection management from cataloguing to strategic decision making.
Digital Content
Digital content is now a vital addition to in-person experiences of works of art. I’ve created digital exhibitions and online viewing rooms as well as short-form articles that help transform websites from sources of information to sites of engagement.
Strategic Planning
All of the above services dovetail with strategic planning. I can advise on the ways in which a project can further long-term objectives and help an organization realize its core goals and values.
